Marimuttu Yoganathan is a bus conductor in Tamil Nadu State Transport Coroperation (TNSTC), Coimbatore. He works as a bus conductor with Tamil Nadu Government on S-26, runs on the Marudamalai-Gandhipuram route in Coimbatore. He is an Indian environmental activist and popularly known as “Tree Man”. he was born on 1969. He planted over three lakhs trees in last 25 years.<\/span>
\nWhen he was young, he uses to write poems sitting under the trees in Kotagiri forests. He fought with timber mafias for falling trees. He uses little less than his half of monthly salary (approx. 40%) towards buying saplings and educating children regarding tree plantation. <\/span>
\nGovernment of Tamil Nadu has conferred on him the title “SuttruSuzhal Sevai Veera Award”. CNN-IBN’s also awarded him, “Real Heroes Award” in 2011 and a “Periyar Award” in 2015. He is also recipient of “Eco Warrior Award”. He is a member of “Tree Trust”.<\/span>
